Clearbox Systems Opens Canberra Facility

Clearbox Systems has opened a new high tech / high security facility in Canberra. The facility is strategically located in Fyshwick for quick access to Defence facilities at HMAS HARMAN and Russell Offices which house a number of systems supported by Clearbox Systems.

The capabilities and expertise provided from the Canberra office are:

  • Expert knowledge in:
    • Equipment Monitoring and Control (M&C)
    • Spectrum Monitoring
    • Baseband, RF and Antenna systems
    • Server and Network Infrastructure
  • Installation and site support, including rack builds, equipment changeover, site cabling
  • Wideband SATCOM domain knowledge
  • UHF (Narrowband) SATCOM domain knowledge
  • End-to-end SATCOM infrastructure fault diagnosis and resolution
  • ADF SATCOM operations knowledge
  • Specfic project knowledge, particularly across multiple phases of JP2008

We’re looking for an experienced Software Developer

Creating custom, groundbreaking software solutions is an integral part of what we do at Clearbox Systems, and we’re looking for a talented Senior Software Developer who can manipulate their programming knowledge creatively in order to help innovate cutting-edge solutions for our clients.

Clearbox Systems is a pioneering software engineering firm. We design, develop and manufacture original software and hardware solutions to provide a flexible and unique response to our customer’s needs. We work with a broad range of clients completing a variety of different projects in private industry and Defence. If you’re a creative and self-motivated Software Developer with some decent experience under your belt we could be just the right fit for you. 

Purpose of the Position

As our workload is expanding we’re looking for a Mid-Senior Software Developer who will be confident in applying their knowledge of programming concepts in order to design and build solutions for complex problems. In order to be successful in the position you will need to be a keen problem solver who is able to see and understand the bigger picture, but also be capable of breaking it down and digging into the details.

 

What You Will Be Doing

On any given day you would be working in a team towards achieving the client’s desired outcomes, potentially you could be across multiple projects including Defence and commercial communications job. Work typically involves critical and creative thinking and executing a mixture of cutting edge technologies and techniques to produce innovative programming and software solutions. You will need to produce clean code that you can read, test and maintain. As a Senior member of the team you’ll be making important design decisions, sharing knowledge with your colleagues to help the team grow as a whole, and be actively learning in order to expand your own skill-set and programming abilities.

 

The Successful Candidate Will Need:

♦  4+ years experience as a Software Developer
♦  An Engineering or Computer Science degree
♦  Strong programming skills in Java and/or Javascript/HTML/CSS or comparable languages
♦  Thorough understanding of and experience implementing Design patterns
♦  Experience working with large code bases across multiple project modules
♦  Experience working in a collaborative development team environment with developers at a variety of levels
♦  A willingness to learn, be challenged and expand your capabilities and also pass on your knowledge to more junior developers
♦  To be someone who is self-motivated and takes initiative
♦  Due to our clients, Australian Citizenship is a requirement

Nice-to-haves:

♦  Experience with Angular JS, JQuery, Typescript, Less CSS
♦  Experience with automated test execution packages for Java and Javascript applications
♦  Experience with JSON & Jackson
♦  Experience with Relational Databases and SQL (e.g.Postgres)
♦  Experience with controlling devices via SNMP
♦  Experience working with an Agile development process
♦  Experience with Distributed Version Control Systems
♦  Experience with or understanding of the principles behind Test Driven Development
♦  Existing Defence experience

Clearsox: Clearbox Systems in the 2014 Sydney Oxfam Trailwalker

Clearbox Systems COO Greg Reid, along with his team ‘Clearsox’ have been training to complete this year’s Oxfam Trailwalker in Sydney. The event consists of a 100km walk through bush and trails, beginning at Brooklyn and ending in Mosman, taking the team an estimated 36 hours.

While the team here at the Clearbox Systems office have been busy eating Oxfam Chocolate blocks to raise money, the real fighters of Clearsox, team members Greg Reid, John Dean, Patrick Crowe and Phillip Gruber, have been training for months in order to complete this incredible effort, all in order to raise money for Oxfam Australia. The Oxfam Trailwalker has grown to be one of the world’s ultimate team events with almost 200,000 people taking part and $140 million raised to support Oxfam’s work.

Oxfam are a not-for-profit organisation who aim to end poverty worldwide. To achieve change, Oxfam Australia:

  • works with local organisations to build their capacity to influence and effect change that improves the lives of poor people and enables them to voice and claim their rights
  • supports women and first nations peoples to claim their rights and hold leadership roles in order to influence and achieve change
  • brokers, mobilises, and participates in networks that influence governments, corporations and institutions to become more accountable and bring about sustainable and systemic change locally, and internationally
  • brings together organisations that represent poor people, with relevant governments, corporations and institutions, so that they can discuss problems safely and with dignity, and work collaboratively to identify ways of redressing the imbalance of power.

Clearbox Systems relocates to new high tech facility

Clearbox Systems has relocated to a new high tech / high security facility in Macquarie Park – home to a large number of major business parks and conference centres – approximately 15 kilometres from Sydney’s Central Business District.

The facility includes:

  • Purpose built laboratory space to support existing and future projects and extensive internal Research and Development programs;
  • Open-plan designed office space with room for continuing growth, and
  • Access to nearby public transport options including buses and Macquarie Park train station.

Clearbox Systems receives letter recognising support of the Australian Defence Organisation

On 22 February 2012, Clearbox Systems was presented with a letter recognising the contribution made by Clearbox Systems in support of the Australian Defence Organisation. The letter refers to a Compass Monitoring and Control System that Clearbox Systems installed in 2011 in support of Defence’s Satellite Communication Research and Development Capability.

The Letter of Recognised Supply (LoRS) program is designed to help sustain Australian Defence industry capability by acknowledging the successful supply by an Australian Company to the Australian Defence Organisation.

To receive the LoRS a company needs to meet the standards of supply demanded by the Australian Defence Organisation. Products and services need to be supplied on time, on budget and to specification.

Clearbox Systems awarded multiple DAB+ digital radio contracts

Clearbox Systems is pleased to announce that is has been awarded multiple Network Management System (NMS) contracts as part of Commercial Radio Australia’s continued roll out of DAB+ digital radio transmission infrastructure around Australia.

Clearbox Systems will be configuring and deploying the award winning Kratos Networks Compass management system as well as Mercury element managers for managing a number of remote sites. The remote sites will then be integrated into existing centrally located Compass systems in capital cities around Australia.

The contract awards continue Clearbox Systems history of engineering, delivering and supporting Compass Network Management Systems for Commercial Radio Australia.
